Product Features

Lauric Acid - The Main Active
A functional food, virgin coconut oil provides both energy (nutrients) and raw materials for antimicrobial monoglycerides (functional components) when it is eaten.
About 50% of the fatty acids in virgin coconut oil are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid that has the additional benefit of being formed into monolaurin in the human body.

Capric Acid
Capric acid is another medium chain fatty acid found in coconut oil that has a similar benefit when it is formed into monocaprin in the body.  Monocaprin has also been shown to have antiviral effects against HIV and is being tested against Herpes Simplex, Chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Monolaurin
Monolaurin is the antiviral, antibacterial and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the body to destroy lipid-coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, measles, cytomegalovirus, influenza, pathogenic bacteria and protozoa such as giardia lamblia.
Monolaurin does not have harmful effects on desirable gut bacteria, but rather on only potentially harmful disease causing microorganisms. There is also very little development of resistance by bacteria to these natural antimicrobials.
